It’s easy to love our little city this time of year, when the snowflakes glisten in the treetops and the brisk air invites you to snuggle up close with a loved one. Each year, the Valentine’s Phantom visits Montpelier to shower our downtown in hearts. You too can demonstrate your love - for yourself, a friend, or a loved one - in downtown Montpelier. Here’s our round-up for a romantic Valentine’s Day in the coziest place on earth.
The Discover Montpelier series is sponsored by Capitol Plaza Hotel and Conference Center
Looking for a sweet for your sweetie? Montpelier is one of the sweetest places imaginable, thanks to our amazing bakeries and candy shops. Click here for a full roundup of the sweetest things in Montpelier.
Seeking the perfect gift? Consider a beautiful flower arrangement from Botanica Florals or Regal Floral Design, lingerie at No. 9 Boutique or Splash Naturals, jewelry at Katie’s Jewels, or a romantic and one-of-a-kind gift from one of our dozens of independently-owned boutiques.
Or perhaps your love language is spending time together with your loved one. Our delectable restaurants are the perfect spot for a romantic dinner with your sweetie. Several restaurants are offering romantic specials:
- Sarducci’s will offer oysters shucked to order by Vermont Raw Bar on Valentine’s Day from 4-9pm.
- The North Branch Cafe will offer a Sweethearts Edition of its popular Oyster Night on Valentine’s Day from 4-8pm. Grab your sweetie or a group of friends and come on over to the North Branch Cafe for fresh raw Maine oysters, served with some of the best oyster wines from around the world. They will also be popping open the bubbly for this event. In order to serve only the freshest, they order oysters based on reservations only, so please make a reservation by mid-day Thursday. Call 802-552-8105 or stop by!
- NECI on Main is offering a special five-course menu on Valentine’s Day. Start with a special amuse bouche prepared by the chef, then enjoy beet salad with carrot puree, farro, arugula, bee pollen, and chevre, followed by a blood orange intermezzo, rack of lamb with gnocchi and a cider buerre blanc, and a decadent flourless chocolate cake to top it off!
- Positive Pie is offering a special dinner. Choose from spinach salad topped with heart shaped strawberries and a bacon rose or shrimp cocktail, and follow it up with pillowy sweet potato gnocchi, succulent slow-roasted prime rib, or seared pistachio crusted ahi tuna. Cap off the meal with a strawberry canoli, strawberry mousse, or tiramisu.
