Welcoming North Branch Health Care

North Branch Healthcare will soon open its offices in Montpelier, offering a new kind of primary care for central Vermont residents. Montpelier Alive is thrilled to welcome them as a new member, and invites you to join them at an Open House and Ribbon Cutting Celebration on Monday, September 10 from 4-6pm at 1 Blanchard Court, Suite 205, in Montpelier.

North Branch Healthcare is bringing a new kind of care to central Vermont, with a focus on quality of care instead of quantity of care. Jeff Lourie is a Family Nurse Practitioner and welcomes patients of all ages. Jeff has been practicing for almost a decade in hospital-based practices, and is excited to open his new practice, with care centered on the patient. “As large hospitals get larger, patients become numbers and statistics,” Jeff said. “At a private practice where I know people by name, where we know each other, you can get more individualized care, and the services I can offer are personalized. I can do home visits, visits over the phone and provide other services that large organizations can't provide.  With this practice, you are valued as an individual.”

North Branch uses a membership model, which enables two important things: availability and accessibility. You can schedule your own appointment online at a time that is convenient for you, including early and late appointments. In-home care is available, as are telephone consultations. “When you don’t have to focus on seeing 30 patients per day to keep the lights on, you can really spend quality time with people,” Jeff said.

North Branch offers two models of care that can work for you, whether you have excellent insurance or not-so-good insurance. The first model is Direct Primary Care, which operates without interfacing with your insurance at all. You sign up for a monthly or yearly membership, and it covers every office visit and all consultations over the phone, without any insurance copayments, ever. If you have a procedure done in the office, you’ll know how much it costs before it’s performed, without waiting for a bill from your insurance company. This means you can still get great care without having to opt for the most expensive insurance plan that has a low deductible. The second is Concierge Primary Care. Under this more traditional model, you pay a co-payment with each office visit, and visits are submitted through your insurance, but you’ll be entitled to the enhanced availability and accessibility of the practice.

Jeff chose to locate his new business in downtown Montpelier for a simple reason: he wants it easy for people to be seen. “There are a lot of people who would benefit from medical care but literally can’t get to their provider, and I wanted to fix that problem,” Jeff said. “If you want truly individualized care, making sure you can see you PCP when you need to see them is the key.” His convenient downtown location is easy to reach by foot, bike, or car!
