  1. Elliot Burg and Athena Petra Tasiopoulos

    November 5, 2019, 12:00 PM - January 3, 2020, 4:00 PM @ T. W. Wood Gallery

    The T.W. Wood Art Gallery is pleased to announce an upcoming exhibit by Elliot Burg and Athena Tasiopoulos. The exhibit will run from November 5th, 2019 to January 3rd, 2020. All shows are free and open to the public. Reception - November 7th - 5:00 - 7:00pm Artist Talk - December 6th - 5:00pm Elliot Burg is a freelance photographer from Middlesex, Vermont. In 2018, Elliot Burg traveled to Havana, Cuba, to capture portraits and photograph musicians and dancers in the streets playing music and moving their bodies to the rhythms of salsa and reggaetón. Athena Petra Tasiopoulos is a mixed media collage artist and fine art photographer. The artist creates surface texture, depth, and dimension by covering and inscribing paper and photographic collages with encaustic. By re-inventing antiquated portraits, Tasiopoulos allows her subjects to transcend the constraints of time and place.

  4. Mother Up! Families Rise Up for Climate Action: Monthly Gathering

    All families welcome! Dinner and childcare are provided. We are a group of parents who know the climate crisis is upon us, and we want to do something about it, while sustaining our activism with humor, and community. We also talk about the trials, joys and tribulations of parenting children who are becoming more and more aware that our planet is struggling.   5. Third Thursday: When the Irish Invaded Canada

    November 21, 2019, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM @ Vermont History Museum

    The outlandish, untold story of the Irish American revolutionaries who tried to free Ireland by invading Canada, with Christopher Klein. Just over a year after Robert E. Lee relinquished his sword, a band of Union and Confederate veterans dusted off their guns. But these former foes had no intention of reigniting the Civil War. Instead, they fought side by side to undertake one of the most fantastical missions in military history: to seize the British province of Canada and to hold it hostage until the independence of Ireland was secured. This motley group carried out a series of five attacks on Canada between 1866 and 1871, managing to seize a piece of Canada--if only for three days.

    LNT AID – Vermont Stars Come Out for Lost Nation Theater - one night only Thursday November 21st at Montpelier City Hall Arts Center. It’s the 6th annual mega concert with mega-talented & fun artists doing their remarkable respective things to raise much needed funds for Lost Nation Theater. Great tunes, great laughs, great dance, and great storytelling with Vermont stars of stage and song! LNT Aid 2019 stars Jon Gailmor, Ben & Pen Again! (Ben Koening & Penny Towers) Contemporary Dance & Fitness Studio’s Hip Hop, Kathleen Keenan & her 'Cabaret' Friends, and George Woodard, plus Special Guests and Emcee G. Richard Ames. Soundman Bennett Shapiro of MadTech Sound provides the audio engineering - so you know it’ll sound fantastic. A cash bar and tasty treats will also be available. Susan brings a depth to her watercolor that is absolutely breathtaking and Chris Miller's (recently completed the Ceres sculpture on The State House) new work combines exotic wood and resin in a fascinating pairing.

    Join the Washington County Youth Service Bureau and the central Vermont community for the 47th Annual FREE Community Thanksgiving Dinner, held in the Fellowship Hall of the Bethany Church, 115 Main Street Montpelier. We will serve a Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings from 11:30 am - 2:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day.. We also provide delivery service for those who are home bound across Washington County.
