Lost or Stolen: If certificates are lost or stolen they cannot be replaced. You should treat these Certificates just as if they are cash.
Using Your Capital City Cash: Once you have decided where you want to spend your Capital City Cash, just present the Certificate to the participating merchant. Following your purchase, it is up to each participating merchant how change will be returned. Change may be provided in cash, or in some locations change may be in the form of store credit. You may want to ask the Participating Merchant how change will be provided.
Question: If you have questions about the Capital City Cash Program, contact one of the following people who will be pleased to assist you.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is Capital City Cash?
Capital City Cash works like a universal gift certificate for downtown Montpelier. It was started by the Montpelier Business Association, a committee of Montpelier Alive, to encourage support of our local businesses. The certificates are available in denominations of $5 or $20 dollars.
- What if I loose my certificates?
Lost or stolen certificates will not be replaced, so treat them like you would cash.
- Do they expire?
There is no expiration date. Whether you have an old-style of Capital City Cash, or the new ones in pre-printed denominations, your Capital City Cash is still good. We will even accept Capital City Cash from years ago when they used to have an expiration date.
