Montpelier Community Spruce Up Day Kicks Off April 11

March 30, 2026

After a long Vermont winter, downtown Montpelier is ready for a reset—and it’s something we can do together.

On Saturday, April 11 from 11 AM to 2 PM, Montpelier Alive and the Downtown Business Association are hosting the first Montpelier Community Spruce Up Day of the season. It’s the start of a series of hands-on days this spring and summer focused on simple, visible improvements that make a big difference downtown.

Winter leaves its mark. Sidewalks collect grit, windows get dull, and weeds start creeping in before anyone’s ready. Spruce Up Day is about tackling those small but important tasks as a community—sweeping sidewalks, washing storefront windows, and freshening up the shared spaces we all use.

Volunteers are welcome to join for as little as 30 minutes or stay for the full event. Come on your own, or bring a friend, your family, or a team from work. All supplies will be provided, and participants can check in at the sign-up table in front of Montpelier City Hall.

There will be music throughout the day to keep things moving, and several downtown businesses will be offering small “thank you” specials for volunteers. It’s a simple way to spend a few hours outside, connect with neighbors, and help get Montpelier looking its best for the season ahead.

Spruce Up Day is about shared ownership of downtown—pitching in where we can and taking pride in the place we all rely on, whether you live here, work here, or just pass through regularly.
