Celebrate Mardi Gras a little early with us and bring some warmth downtown during the coldest month of the year!

The Spice on Snow Winter Music Festival returns after a 5 years hiatus!! This three day celebration of roots and folk music, from January 17th - 19th 2025, features outstanding nationally known Cajun and Old-Time musicians. There are concerts, dances, workshops, family events, jam sessions and free performances city-wide in Montpelier, Vermont.

Friday, January 17th

Kick off the festival with our headliner band and music throughout the downtown

  • Rose and the Bros7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at  Capitol Plaza Hotel. A powerhouse ensemble rooted in the dance tradition with the Cajun and country music influence from Ithaca New York  (pictured above)  music, dancing and bar. $15 per ticket (12 and under free). Order tickets HERE

  • Are you a new resident to Central Vermont? Join us prior to the Rose and the Bros concert and come to  our first ever New Resident Mixer from 5:00 pm- 7:00 pm at J Morgan's at Capitol Plaza before the show. Meet other new residents as well as Montpelier Alive staff, including Katie Trautz, Executive Director.

Saturday, January 18th

Saturday's Headliner: Music by Richie and Rosie7:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Rosie Newton and Richie Stearns are a dynamic duo performing music rooted in the Americana tradition at Lost Nation Theater,  $20 per ticket (12 and under free).

Cajun-themed restaurant offerings

  • Friday, January 17th, J.Morgan's Steakhouse will add to its menu: Shrimp and Grits, Smoked Chili Oil & Pickled Jalapeno, Blackened Red Snapper, Creole Salsa & Louisiana Dirty Rice. Enjoy these dishes before the Rose & The Bros concert, starting at 7pm
  • On Saturday from 12 pm - 9 pm, Barr Hill by Caledonia Spirits offers a Cajun-themed menu, including red beans and rice, shrimp and grits, chicken and andouille  jambalaya with red beans and rice, hushpuppies, with hot honey and beignets
  • Penzo Pizza Company will cook up a special pizza for Saturday as well - a Cajun shrimp and andouille sausage specialty pizza.
