A Montpelier Summer Tradition: Catch a Vermont Mountaineers Game

There are certain signs that summer has officially arrived in Montpelier: flowers blooming downtown, outdoor dining returning to the sidewalks, live music filling the air, and the crack of a baseball bat.
For more than two decades, the Vermont Mountaineers have been an important part of summertime in the City of Bridges. Each summer, talented collegiate athletes from across the country come to Montpelier to compete in the New England Collegiate Baseball League, bringing exciting baseball and a strong sense of community to Recreation Field.
A Mountaineers game is more than just nine innings of baseball. It's a classic Vermont summer experience. Whether you're a lifelong baseball fan or simply looking for a fun and affordable night out, a Mountaineers game offers something for everyone.
Many former Mountaineers players have gone on to professional baseball careers, including appearances in Major League Baseball, making each game an opportunity to watch future stars before they make it to the big leagues.

Attending a game is also a great excuse to make an evening of it downtown. Grab dinner at one of Montpelier's many restaurants, stroll through local shops, and then head to Recreation Field to cheer on the home team. It's a perfect way to support local businesses while enjoying one of the community's favorite summer traditions.
